What is Our Mission?
When founder Allison Whitney Schnepper’s niece was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, she saw the struggles her family endured to get Bianca the help she needed. Determined to help, a foundation was created in her nieces’ name in 2011. Be Involved. Act Now. Champion Autism (BIANCA) was made to administer grants for autistic children.
Our goal is to be a leading nonprofit organization in San Diego. We want to provide funds for physical, psychological and occupational therapy for autistic children. Studies have shown that early intervention is the key for individuals with autism. Unfortunately, only a few proven treatments are covered by medical insurance.
We believe that every family with a child on the spectrum deserves autism disability benefits. We strive to create a community where services for autistic children are available to all, despite a family’s financial situation.
How We Help
BIANCA is working tirelessly to create beneficial relationships with national, state and local agencies to increase the availability of programs tailored for children with autism.
Our programs fall into two categories:
- Access to Care Program (ATC). ATC provides financial aid to families who couldn’t otherwise afford to pay for programs they need. This is given in the form of scholarships, allowing families to use services imperative to the treatment of their autistic children. Families will have access to psychologists, occupational and behavioral therapists, speech language pathologists, and much more.
- Allay Autism Program (AAP). AAP allows families to participate in programs otherwise not open to them, due to the necessary precautions needed to ensure their children’s safety.
We also administer free early intervention screenings for preschool-aged children. This unique program identifies preschoolers with language or motor delays, giving families the opportunity to get treatment as early as possible.
While making financial donations is a huge help, it isn’t the only way you can help our cause. We organize an array of fundraisers and activities throughout the year to raise awareness for autism. One of our most popular fundraisers, fundraising through recycling, simply requires donors to bring in lightly used office supplies. This allows autistic students to have much needed school supplies.
We’ve also teamed up with the coupon website goodsearch.com to donate a portion of every search and click to autism awareness. While goodsearch.com is similar to other search engines, it allows you to both access great coupons and donate to a cause you believe in.
